Professional Experience
Zhengde (Eric) Kang is a partner at WISEAST IP Law Firm starting June 2011. Over the past years, Eric has accumulated extensive legal experience in all areas of patent law, including patent procurement and portfolio management; patent validity and infringement opinions, and patent licensing. At the same time, Eric has successfully developed a client base ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in industries including lighting, LCD & Plasma display, semi-conductor device, record medium, healthcare device, and computer software.

Eric’s experience in IP for nearly 10 years began at the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), where he was a patent examiner in Optoelectronics and established extensive relationships with state and local government agencies. After leaving SIPO and before joining WISEAST, Eric served as a patent attorney at China Patent Agency (H.K.) Ltd (CPA), the largest IP Firm in China, for five years. Based on the comprehensive experiences in SIPO and CPA, Eric has depth of knowledge on the practice of patent examination in China and successfully utilizes it to assist both Chinese and foreign clients in protecting their IP rights better.
